Release Notes

We are happy to present to you a new release of the XcoAppSpace!
Also, after much refactoring of our code, we finally felt that our sources are ready to be shown in the CodePlex SVN Repository. You can find them there from now on.

Source Code Changes

But that is of course not the only thing that has changed in the current release. As we begin to get a clearer image of what the application space should really be, we decided that the application space should concentrate more on its core discipline: the functionality of remoting ccr ports and portsets. We felt that, although dependency injection is an important thing for nearly every project, it is not really needed to be in the application space itself. So we kicked out the whole dependency injection functionality. Even looking critically onto this decision afterwards, we think that this was the right choice, and are happy with the outcome. Of course we encourage you that you still use dependency injection for your project(s)! You can also still easily instantiate Workers with your DI container and then run them in the application space.
Another mentionable thing is that now you can also publish ports and portsets alone, without wrapping a worker around. So, you can have your first remoted port ready now even easier. If you want so see how it works, just take a look at the usage demos.
There are also some slight changes in the API to make your code more easy to read.

Licensing Changes

It should also be mentioned that we changed out license.
Xcoordination offers two different license options for the Xcoordination Application Space:
1) General Public License (GPL) Version 2
Xcoordination Application Space is free under the GPL, where it can be used:
  • for development
  • in-house as long as no deployment to third parties takes place
  • together with works that are placed under the GPL themselves

You receive a copy of the GPL together with the Xcoordination Application Space distribution.
2) Commercial License
For incorporation into own commercial products and for use together with redistributed software that is not placed under the GPL, Xcoordination Application Space is also available under a commercial license.
Please send email to info@xcoordination.org for licensing terms and pricing.
